Meta confirmed that WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will automatically block messages from unknown numbers. The application is constantly evolving with security features to make it more secure and protect user privacy.
This feature aims to protect user accounts from spam and phishing attacks and to stop receiving malicious messages. In addition, you can set a limit on the number of messages you can receive from an unknown contact for a specific duration. If the set limit has been reached, the app will automatically block messages from that account.
Besides privacy and security protection, the new feature will make the app run faster. This is because too many messages from spammers and unknown contacts will slow down the app’s performance. If there is no possibility of getting unknown messages, there will be no chance of scams.
According to WaBetaInfo, this feature is currently being tested on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.17.24 update. The company also adds that the feature is going to be optional, so you can use it when and where required.
