Connecting an LG Soundbar to a TV via Bluetooth
One of the simplest ways to connect an LG Soundbar to a TV is using Bluetooth technology. The wireless connection process is quick, so you don’t need to look for an additional cable to do so.
Start by turning on the soundbar and pressing the Function button. Select the BT [Bluetooth] option, and wait until the soundbar displays READY. This is an indication that the soundbar is all set to pair with your TV.
Next, go to the Settings menu on your LG TV that you want to pair. Then, choose All Settings and navigate to the Sound settings. In the Sound Out section, select Use Wireless Speaker and then choose Bluetooth Device.
Note – If your TV is not an LG product, the above steps may differ. Refer to the user manual and go to the Bluetooth settings accordingly. For quick pairing, disconnect other Bluetooth devices linked to your TV to avoid interference.
Your TV will scan for available Bluetooth devices. When your LG Soundbar appears in the list, select it to complete the connection. If your TV doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth, you can buy a Bluetooth adapter from Amazon and use it to connect your soundbar.
Connecting an LG Soundbar to Your TV via Cable
For a high-quality audio experience, we recommend connecting the LG Soundbar to a TV using a cable. Most Smart TVs come with USB, HDMI, and Optical audio ports, which are located on the side or back of the TV, depending on the model.
If you use an HDMI cable, plug one end into the TV’s HDMI IN port. Then, plug the other end into the LG Soundbar’s HDMI OUT port. For an optical cable, connect it to the TV’s OPTICAL OUT port and the soundbar’s OPTICAL IN port.
For a 3.5mm AUX cable, insert one end into the AUX IN port on the soundbar and the other into the Audio OUT port on the TV. When using RCA cables, plug the red and white terminals into the RCA audio out ports on your TV and connect the other ends to the soundbar’s RCA audio terminals.
Once the cables are connected, you need to tweak the TV sound settings. Open the Settings menu, navigate to Sound under All Settings, and choose the Sound Out option. Then, select the Use Wired Speaker option.
Based on the cable you used, pick the corresponding output. For HDMI, select HDMI(ARC) Device. If you used an optical cable, choose Optical Out Device. When using an AUX cable, select Audio Out Device.
If you connect the LG Soundbar with RCA cables, you don’t need to adjust the sound settings. The TV will automatically send the audio to the soundbar without any manual configuration.
