Google recently rolled out a new interface for Google Assistant on Android Auto that almost mimics Siri. This new UI appears only when you use voice interactions and is at the bottom of the Android Auto screen. It resembles two-way communication. Once you initiate a voice search, the new UI will appear, and the Google Assistant will wait until it gets a reply.
I have added a screenshot below to show you how it works. I asked Google Assistant to find a nearby post office. When I tapped Assistant, the new user interface appeared, and it asked me which place I wanted to navigate to. The reaction time was quick, and it went away when it understood my response.
From the image, you can guess how similar it looks to Apple’s CarPlay. We have spotted this new user interface on Android Auto, running version 12.5. It is just like how CarPlay features a colorful and circular wave UI when using voice commands.
This new change is worth noting that Google has planned something big. Within a few years, Google will soon integrate Gemini as a default assistant for mobile devices. Let’s fortunately expect that the Android Auto app will undergo the same changes.
