If you own an Apple Watch powered by watchOS 10, you may wonder if you can change its notification sound. It is possible, but you need to upgrade your Apple Watch software to watchOS 11. This article explains the steps to change the ringtone and notification alert tone on the Apple Watch
Note – We have already upgraded the Apple Watch to watchOS 11 Beta to test new features, including ringtones and notification alerts. The stable release of watchOS 11 for Apple Watch will be available on September 16, 2024.
How to Change Notification Sound on Apple Watch
1. Press the Digital Crown on the Apple Watch to view all the apps.
2. From the list of apps, locate the Settings icon and click on it.
3. Scroll down the options and click Sounds & Haptics.
4. Tap Ringtone. It will show 8 ringtone options, including Pebbles (Default), Focus, Jingle, Nighthawk, Transmit, Twirl, Windup, and Wonder.
5. Select the one you want to set as your primary ringtone.
6. To change the notification sound, tap Text Tone. It will show Resonate (Default), Brilliant, Cheer, Moment, Scoop, Timekeeper, Tinker, and None. Choose the one you want as a text tone.
7. Similarly, you can set a separate sound for New Mail, Calendar Alerts, Reminder Alerts, and Default Alerts.
8. Once done, press the Digital Crown to close the settings.
How to Mute Apple Watch Notifications
1. Open the Control Center on your Apple Watch.
2. Tap the Silent Mode button. Remember that you can still receive haptic notifications.
To silence a notification as it sounds, rest your palm on the Watch’s display for three seconds until you feel a tap.
